Anwar sues Nalla, Utusan Melayu for $41 million

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has filed a RM100 million (S$41 million) defamation suit against Senator Datuk S.Nallakaruppan, Utusan Melayu (M) Bhd and its editor over a March 20 article.

He said the article published in Utusan Malaysia implied that he 'is of low moral.'

Anwar said the statement given by Nallakaruppan meant that he 'is unqualified to hold the Opposition leader's post and a Muslim leader whose conduct is not in accordance with Islamic teachings.'

He said the words had seriously injured his reputation, character, dignity and published with bad intention.
