More inmates are getting employed even before they are released, said the Singapore Prisons Service (SPS).
In 2011, 1,586 inmates found jobs before being released, registering a 35 per cent increase from the previous year where only 1,172 secured employment.
This is a second year of positive growth, reported SPS in an annual report.
SPS attributed the rise to a corresponding increase in the number of employers that registered with the Singapore Corporation of Rehabilitative Enterprises (SCORE).
