The entire Perlis football team will be called in for questioning over the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) probe into a scandal involving nine players, who are alleged to have been offered RM100,000 by a bookie to sell their game against the Muar Municipal Council on Jan 9.

The New Straits Times, had last Friday front-paged a story about nine Perlis players who admitted they had met a bookie. They were offered RM100,00 by the bookie, as an inducement for them "to sell their game" against Muar Municipal Council (Muar MC) on Jan 9.

The matter was highlighted by PFA president Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, who had conducted his own probe, following the team's poor showing during this season's Premier League.

The players had however refused to accept the offer.

The team suffered a shocking 7-2 loss when they were devastated by Muar MC at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.

Perlis was struck another blow when they lost 2-0 to Sime Darby.

The team managed a 2-2 draw against Pahang at the Utama Stadium here last Friday.

An official from the Perlis Football Association confirmed that all 16 players from the team would be called up for questioning to help MACC to ascertain the authenticity of the allegation.

Until Saturday, two midfielders, including an import player, were among four footballers, who had been questioned by MACC after the allegation surfaced.

MACC had also called two officials from the PFA for questioning over the case.

Investigations into the allegation will resume after the Chinese New Year holidays.
