Hindus celebrate Pongal, give thanks to sacred cow

Hindus in Singapore celebrated Pongal, the harvest festival, by giving thanks to the cow which is considered sacred to the community.

Known as "Maattu Pongal", the festival saw hundreds of people gather at Campbell Lane in Little India.

Students and tourists were eager to witness the special prayers.

The event has been held for the past 11 years.

It's organised by the Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association, with Viknesh Dairy Farm providing the cows.
