Authorities investigate ceiling leaks at Kovan Market

The National Environment Agency (NEA) and the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council are conducting a thorough assessment of the cause to the ceiling leaks at Kovan Market.

NEA said six lock-up stalls at the Kovan Market were affected by rainwater leaks from the roof during the heavy downpour on Saturday.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the overflow from the roof rainwater discharge system could be the cause.

NEA has offered assistance to the affected stallholders and will also provide rental remission when their stalls are closed for repairs.

Improvement works to the adjacent car park will begin in the second quarter of this year to prevent water from flowing into the market.

The works are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
