Fiorentina could part ways with out-of-favour goalkeeper Sebastien Frey in the summer.

The 31-year-old ex-France International does have a contract that runs until 2013, which means he will not be allowed to leave on the cheap.

However, the Italian club are willing to listen to offers as they look to raise funds for the summer transfer window.

The poker sessions took place on the school grounds after class, or while they were waiting for teachers to start lessons.

"At first, we bet 10 and 20 cents. Then the stakes rose to $1, $5 and $10. Soon, it was $50 to show a hand. Eventually, it hit $100," said Zac.

He ended up losing "quite often", but never thought of stopping.

"I was just desperate to win back what I had lost and clear my debt."

His losses snowballed and hit $1,300 last June.

Then his classmate started pressing him for payment.

Zac said: "He would call me every half an hour to ask when I was returning the money."

Once, the classmate even confronted him near the school hall and grabbed him by the throat.

"He told me not to mess around with him as he knew gangsters," he recalled.

Worried, Zac started avoiding his classmate, skipping school and even missing his Sec 5 Maths preliminary examination "because other classmates said he was looking for me, and I couldn't pay up".

Hounded to honour the loss, he then signed an IOU with the classmate in June.

He also agreed to the interest and other terms - $7 for every day he was unable to pay off the amount, in addition to $45 for every fortnight that the sum was outstanding.

Last July, Zac claimed the classmate told him to sign up for a mobile plan and pay the expenses. He did as he was told.

To settle his debts, he also borrowed money from friends and began juggling two part-time jobs - pulling the early shift at a factory and working till 2am as a hotel banquet waiter.

Zac estimated that he has handed over $5,000 to the classmate so far.

Now, his family, in an attempt to get the money back, has made a police report against that classmate.

As United trudged in at half-time, they cannot have known whether to laugh or cry. Sir Alex Ferguson's men had wasted an astonishing 13 chances to score - 11 of them coming before the break.

Their pace, power and precision was simply too much for Schalke, who were opened up with a regularity barely credible at this level of the game.

Incredibly though, the score remained goalless.

Javier Hernandez just could not find the target as his shots flew wide of the Schalke goal, while on other occasions Neuer was in the way.

But in a three-minute second-half spell, Ryan Giggs and the outstanding Wayne Rooney finally scored United's goals.

It is a fine time for Tony Pulis' side, who also have an FA Cup final at Wembley to look forward to for the first time on May 14 against Manchester City.

Kenwyne Jones opened the scoring in the 16th minute, Ryan Shawcross extended their lead on the stroke of half-time and Jermaine Pennant added a third in the 51st minute leaving Wolves rooted in the bottom three after their 13th defeat in 17 away league games.

Once Stoke made the breakthrough they never looked back against their local rivals.

Jones headed in his 11th goal of the season following a cross from Pennant after getting between Richard Stearman and Jody Craddock.

Although goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey got a hand to the ball he could not prevent it going into the net.

Stoke were not content to sit on their lead and Walters skipped away from Stearman in the 48th minute only to drag his effort wide of the post.

However Wolves suffered another blow three minutes later when the home side made it 3-0 following good work by Jones and Walters.

Walters delivered the ball into the middle and Pennant got an excellent first touch to find the target with Hennessey again wrong-footed by a deflection.

Stoke surely secured their Premier League status with this emphatic win over relegation battlers Wolves.

SINGAPORE - Singapore will be looking forward to its most keenly contested General Election since independence. This is the second time in a row that the ruling government has not been returned to power - 82 out of 87 seats will be contested.

In the last General Election held in 2006, the PAP gained 37 seats in divisions which were uncontested by other parties on Nomination Day.

For today's Nomination Day that just ended, candidates had to file their papers at nine Nomination Centres before nominations closed at noon, with an extra 30 minutes for objections.

Tanjong Pagar GRC has been declared a walkover, as the Singapore Democratic Alliance put in its nomination papers 35 seconds late. The deadline for submitting nomination papers was 12pm.

Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, who leads the PAP team there, said the opposition party made a 'feeble effort to show that they want to contest."

An objection was put up by the Singapore Democratic Party over PAP's candidate for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC. Dr Vincent Wijeysingha and his team filed an objected to Ms Sim Ann's candidacy over her employment status, which stated that she was unemployed, although she is in the midst of serving notice as a civil servant. They said that this technically disqualifies her as a candidate.

Another development that was keenly watched is the results for Aljunied GRC. It will be contested by Workers' Party Low Thia Khiang and his dream team. They will be up against the PAP team led by Foreign Minister George Yeo.

Also expected to be of interest to Singaporeans is Marine Parade GRC, where the incumbent PAP team led by Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong also include its youngest candidate, 27-year-old Tin Pei Ling. Other members are Dr Fatimah Lateef, Mr Seah Kian Peng and Brigadier-General (NS) Tan Chuan-Jin.

Facing the PAP team is the team from National Solidarity Party (NSP) led by former MP Cheo Chai Zheng and include the youngest candidate of this general election, 24-year-old Nicole Seah. Other members are Mr Ivan Yeo Tiong Boon, Mr Abdul Salim Harun and Mr Spencer Ng Chung Hon.

Singapore's electoral boundaries are divided into 12 single member constituencies (SMCs) and 15 Group Representation Constituencies (GRCs).

In total, 14 GRCs and 12 SMCs will be contested during the 2011 General Election.

There are a total of 2,350,873 eligible voters for this General Election.

This officially kicks off the nine-day election campaign.

Many deals sites have a social component. For instance, if you get three friends to buy a LivingSocial voucher, yours is free. Groupon's offers become valid only after a certain number of people purchase them.

http://cdn4.digitaltrends.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/facebook-deals-300x220.jpg

But the deals are circulated to users through email, and the community aspect is secondary.

Facebook is hoping to change that.

"We're building a product that is social from the ground up," says Emily White, director of local for Facebook. "All of these deals are things you want to do with friends, so no teeth whitening, but yes to river rafting."

Starting Tuesday, when Facebook users in the five test markets: San Diego, San Francisco, Atlanta, Dallas and Austin, Texas log into the site, they will see a deals insignia at the bottom of the page.

Clicking on it brings up a list of currently available offers. A user can buy one, click the "like" button to recommend it to others or share the offer with friends through Facebook's private messaging system. When users purchase or "like" a deal, it shows up in their friends' news feed.
