On 25 April 2011 at about 3.55 pm, a 15-year-old female youth was walking along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 when an unknown man came from behind and attempted to snatch her purse and mobile phone. After a violent struggle, the suspect managed to snatch away the victim’s mobile phone before fleeing the scene.

Once the Police were notified, the physical description of the suspect was immediately disseminated to Police units on patrol. Responding patrol officers spotted the subject along Ang Mo Kio Street 31 who fitted the culprit’s description and detained him. After a search, the victim's mobile phone, valued at about $400, was found in the suspect’s possession and he was placed under arrest at about 4.05 pm.
