North Jakarta Police spokesman Comr. Maskur Bujang Chaniago named the victim as Chelapan Karunandhi, 40, a specialist at the gas-and-coal-fired power plant (PLTGU) in Muara Tawar, in Bekasi.

"He had an injury to his neck, [and was found] lying face down, wearing black shorts and a white shirt," Chaniago said Saturday in Jakarta, as quoted by Antara.

"The murderer must have known the victim; because a key-card is required to enter the apartment on the 20th floor," he added.

Chaniago said police had gathered several items, including a kitchen knife probably used by the murderer, as evidence.

He added the victim had lived in the apartment by himself for a year, and that his body had been discovered by a mineral-water supplier.
