MSL 2012 Young Lions left in the dark over future

They have been selected to be in the first Singapore team to play in Malaysian domestic football competitions since the famous 1994 side led by Fandi Ahmad returned home with the league crown and Malaysia Cup in tow.

But with around three months to go to the much awaited kick-off of the Malaysian Super League, the 30 players who have been handpicked by the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) have not heard any news of their exact status.

At the same time, their S-League clubs have told them they will not offer to renew their existing ones because of their imminent move.

"Our clubs are not offering us contract extensions because we are supposed to join the Singapore Lions... they have found replacements for us and it seems that we have no choice but to go," said a player, who declined to be named.
