700 people support NTUC FairPrice campaign to raise rice for needy

Over 700 participants from South East Community Development Council (CDC), NTUC FairPrice came together today to launch a charity campaign which aims to raise at least half a million bowls of rice for 7,000 needy families residing in the South East District.

The campaign, known as the NTUC FairPrice Walk for Rice @ South East 2011, is part of South East CDC's initiatives to encourage community volunteerism.

The public can participate in the campaign by purchasing participating products at NTUC FairPrice stores, or at the following supermarkets on Oct 8 and Oct 15, between 2pm and 6pm:

- Bedok North
- Joo Chiat Complex
- Marine Parade
- Nex Mall

The 7,000 beneficiaries of this campaign consists of financially-assisted families who have been identified by grassroots organisations. The rice will be distributed to the families over a period of five months.
