136 accidents involving young children in first half of year

There were 136 accidents involving children under the age of 12 in the first half of the year.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, and Second Home Affairs Minister, S Iswaran, said 45 were pedestrians at the time of the accidents, and one died.

Speaking at the launch of this year's Road Courtesy Campaign, Mr Iswaran said it's important to impress the importance of road safety upon the young, to inculcate safety habits early.

This year's campaign is calling for courtesy on the move with the tagline "Let's be gracious on the road".
