The man, who worked at a bicycle shop, was hitching a ride on his friend's truck to the Changi Ferry Terminal.

The early morning collision flipped the truck to its side, leaving the driver and one other passenger, besides Mr Lim, injured.

According to bicycle retailer My Bike Shop's website, the driver of the grey car in the accident is only 19 years old. His girlfriend was also in the car then.

When the police arrived on the scene, they reportedly tested the car driver with the breath analyser.

The avid cyclist was always involved in charitable causes, like a fund-raising ride that helped raise $200,000 for Japan quake victims, as well as ST School Pocket Money Fund events.

Mr Lim is survived by his wife, Sandra, and two children, aged 12 and 14.

His colleagues at My Bike Shop are appealing for donations for the family.
