Spanish rookie cop saves drunkard from oncoming train (VIDEO)

MADRID - Security camera footage captured a passenger toppling from the platform onto the tracks at a Spanish metro station.

Alarmed passengers on the opposite platform tried in vain to warn the driver of an incoming train only seconds away from Puerta del Angel station in Madrid.

As it becomes clear the train isn't going to stop in time, an off-duty policeman takes his life in his hands and leaps to the rescue.

The 41-year-old passenger is hauled to safety just a split second before the train reaches both men.

According to the newspaper El Pais, it reported that the man was under the influence of alcohol and had lost his balance and fallen from the platform of the station.

The 30-year-old rescuer graduated just two months ago from the police academy.
