AN INDONESIAN domestic worker who lied that she was scalded by her employer's mother was jailed for four months on Thursday.
Susanti, 23, admitted to giving false information to Assistant Superintendent Gabriel Chen at Tanglin Police Division that her employer's 62-year-old mother splashed hot water on her back on July 1, 2010.
Police arrested the 62-year-old woman that evening. She was released on police bail at about 2am the next day.
Susanti came clean on Aug 4. She stated that she had in fact poured a cup of hot water on her back as she did not want to continue working for the family and wished to be sent back without having to pay her outstanding loan with the maid agency.
She could have been jailed for up to one year and/or fined up to $5,000.
