Indonesian maid who allegedly murdered a diabled girl may be younger

SINGAPORE- An Indonesian maid who allegedly murdered a disabled girl, last month, may be younger than what is stated on her Singapore working paper said her lawyer.

Nurhayati, 24, is accused of killing Linda Lee Yee Lin, 12, at Block 573, Hougang Street 51 on November 24.

On Friday, the court heard that she will be remanded at the Changi Women's Prison for a psychiatric evaluation and the case will be mentioned again on the 24th of this month.

Speaking to reporters outside the courtroom, her lawyer, Mr Mohamed Muzammil Mohamed, said he was verifying Nurhayati's age with official sources in Indonesia.

If convicted of murder, she will face the death penalty. The minimum age for the death sentence is 18.
