12-year-old Malay girl dead in PIE accident on Hari Raya Haji

AN ACCIDENT along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) on Hari Raya Haji has resulted in one death, three casualties and a massive traffic jam (see photos below).

A prime mover reportedly ran over the road divider along PIE towards Tuas at the Paya Lebar flyover.

It jumped into the other side of the road and faced oncoming traffic.

According to a source at the scene of accident, a "little girl" was flung out of the prime mover upon impact and thrown onto the road. She did not seem to be belted down at that time.

Oncoming traffic from the other direction then rolled over her.

A police spokesman said a 12-year-old girl and was conveyed to the Changi General Hospital, along with three other casualties. It was not known if they were all occupants of the prime mover.

Unfortunately the girl succumbed to her injuries at about 11am and was pronounced dead, said the police spokesman.
