NXP tests in-car system

A TRIAL is under way for a next-generation in-car computer system which will include Singapore-specific applications such as live traffic updates and a paperless parking coupon system which can be topped up via SMS.

Instead of tearing a paper coupon based on an estimate of how long the car will be parked, the driver can simply pay with an electronic parking coupon.

The driver can then 'top up' the coupon's validity period if necessary via SMS to the car's computer, instead of having to physically go to the car to tear more coupons - an experience familiar to most drivers here. LINK
