Thirty-five-year-old Koh Koon Hong who fled the scene on a stolen motorcycle was also disqualified from operating all classes of vehicles for three years after his release from prison.

Before committing these offences, he had been in and out of jail for the last 10 years for other crimes.

His last brush with the law was in 2003 when he was sentenced to eight years' jail and given 10 strokes of the cane for drug trafficking.

For committing armed robbery, on top of the 12 strokes, Koh could have been jailed up to 10 years. MORE
