Man believed to have stolen S$300,000 of jewellery arrested

SINGAPORE : Police have arrested a 29-year-old man who is believed to have broken into a jewellery shop at People's Park Complex last Tuesday and made away with about S$300,000 worth of jewellery.

The suspect was identified from CCTV recordings.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Tan Hung Hooi, Commander of Central Police Division, said: "We had very little leads to work on for this case, but we did not give up.

"In fact, we persisted and continued with our investigations and islandwide ambushes. This is definitely a good arrest case as we successfully prevented the criminal from continuing with his crime spree."

The suspect will be charged in court on Tuesday. If convicted, he faces a maximum jail term of ten years. MORE
