Hubba! hubba! Work starts on SportsHub

WORK on the long-delayed Singapore SportsHub officially got underway with a groundbreaking ceremony held at the National Stadium on Wednesday.

The landmark event was attended by Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Vivian Balakrishnan, along with Singapore Sports Council chairman Alex Chan and Ludwig Reichhold, managing director of Dragages Singapore, a partner of the SportsHub Pte Ltd consortium.

Expected to be completed in April 2014, the $1.3 billion integrated facility will feature a 55,000-capacity stadium with a retractable roof, an indoor aquatic centre and 41,000 sq m of retail and commercial space. SOURCE
