Bomb hoax: Suspect held

SINGAPORE - The police arrested a 42-year-old man on Monday after receiving a call about a bomb that turned out to be a hoax.

At about 11.47am on Monday, the police received an anonymous call on the 999 emergency line stating that there was a bomb at a hotel along North Bridge Road.

Following the call, security measures were stepped up while investigators from Central Police Division immediately conducted investigations to trace the caller.

The officers tracked down a male suspect at around 6pm the same day and he was placed under arrest. He will be charged in court today.

If convicted, he is liable to a fine not exceeding $100,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years or to both. SOURCE
