The Central Narcotics Bureau said on Friday (Dec 5) that it seized about 104g of ketamine, 37g of Ice, 120 Erimin-5 tablets and 299 Ecstasy tablets, with some of the drugs seized from a suspicious package sent to Singapore via postal system.

An Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officer at the ICA Parcel Post Section found a suspicious parcel on Thursday, which had arrived from a neighbouring country and was declared to contain books.

The parcel was sent for further checks and was found to contain a locked safe-box disguised as a book. It contained about 103g of ketamine and the nearly 300 Ecstasy tablets.

CNB officers then raided a unit in Marsiling Drive after investigations, and recovered about 37g of Ice, a small amount of ketamine, 120 Erimin-5 tablets and various capsules and tablets suspected to contain controlled drugs from within the unit. Another safe-box disguised as a book, similar to the one found in the parcel, was also recovered.

The suspected intended recipient and importer of the parcel, a 25-year-old male, was arrested.

Investigations are ongoing. If found guilty, the suspect will face a minimum of five years' imprisonment and five strokes of the cane.
