Two suspects aged 21 and 28 respectively have been arrested for alleged involvement in a case of robbery with hurt, police said in a news release on Tuesday (Nov 18).
One of the suspects allegedly grabbed the neck of a 48-year-old female victim when she stepped out of a lift in one of the blocks along Crawford Lane last Sunday, police said.
The victim was punched in her face and stomach before being robbed of her sling bag, which contained a coin pouch, a mobile phone and cash.
With the help of CCTV footage and extensive ground enquiries, police officers nabbed the first suspect along Joon Hiang Road during an ambush operation at about 2.40pm on Tuesday.
About two hours later, police said the other suspect was arrested along Pasir Ris Drive 3.
The victim’s mobile phone has been recovered and seized as a case exhibit.
Both suspects will be charged in court on Thursday for the offence of Robbery with Hurt. If convicted, they could face a maximum 20 years’ jail imprisonment and caning of not less than 12 strokes.
