Police arrested a 26-year-old man on Tuesday (Nov 18) for suspected involvement in loanshark harassment.

Police officers spotted the suspect behaving suspiciously in the vicinity of Ang Mo Kio Ave 10 at about 3.30am on Tuesday.

Preliminary checks revealed that the suspect, who is a debtor-turned-runner, was believed to have committed loanshark harassment by writing on the wall of staircase landings in the vicinity of Toa Payoh Lorong 5.

He was subsequently arrested. Items relating to loanshark harassment, such as surgical masks, bottled of food colouring, caps and a mobile phone were seized.

The suspect will be charged in court on Wednesday. If found guilty, he will be fined up to S$50,000 and imprisoned for up to five years. He will also face up to six strokes of caning.
