The Bukit Batok Neighbourhood Police Centre and seven others are the latest to roll out the Community Policing System (COPS) to bring the police closer to the community.

The seven other neighbourhood police centres are in Queenstown, Bukit Merah West, Kampong Java, Ang Mo Kio North, Yishun North, Bedok South and Bukit Panjang.

COPS was first launched in 2012. Twenty of the 35 neighbourhood police centres across Singapore have implemented the system in phases.

By next year, all neighbourhood police centres would have implemented the system.

MP for Jurong GRC and Speaker of Parliament, Halimah Yacob, said: "COPS brings the Police even closer to the community... With COPS, the Police is more nimble and responsive in preventing, deterring and detecting crime in our neighbourhoods."
