Balestier Khalsa take RHB Singapore Cup

Balestier Khalsa's maiden appearance in the RHB Singapore Cup also marks their first victory.

They faced off against defending champions Home United at Jalan Besar Stadium on Friday (Nov 7) evening.

Balestier took the lead in the 14th minute, with Goran Ljubojevic trapping a cross and sending a shot past Home United's Shahril Jantan.

Home United almost equalised two minutes later, but was denied by the bar. Veteran striker Indra Sahdan then dived in for header, but saw his attempt sending the ball wide.

Balestier's second goal came in a 27th-minute penalty, courtesy of midfielder Kim Min-ho. Park Kang Jin put in yet another for the Tigers late in the 89th minute.

Though Home United's Sirina Camara finally managed a 92nd-minute penalty, it was too little too late. Final score: 3-1 to Balestier.
