Shophouse catches fire at Geylang

A fire broke out in a shophouse along Geylang Lorong 8 on Wednesday (Oct 29).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the incident at 6.37pm. 

No injuries were reported. Six people in the shophouse had evacuated the premises before SCDF's arrival, an SCDF spokesperson told Channel NewsAsia.

Three fire engines, two red rhinos, two fire bikes, and a support vehicle were deployed to the scene. SCDF said the fire was extinguished within 15 minutes by two water jets.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
