A lorry driver has been fined S$25,000 for illegally dumping waste at a public place.

In a press release issued on Wednesday (Oct 29), the National Environment Agency (NEA) found that lorry driver Neo Aik Khee had dumped about 10 tonnes of excavated earth at Old Upper Thomson Road.

Though Mr Neo was instructed to dispose of the earth at Changi staging ground, he dumped it at a public place along Old Upper Thomson Road due to a punctured tyre.

If he is unable to pay the fine, he will be jailed 25 days.

Neo could have been fined up to S$50,000, and jailed for up to a year.
