An act of kindness by two Seattle police officers is inspiring others to make sure local kids have a bed to sleep in.

The Seattle Police Department and the Seattle Police Foundation teamed up with Ikea to supply 50 beds to Seattle-area children in need, as part of the Beds for Kids Project.

The idea was sparked when two officers, Officers Jeremy Wade and Ryan Gallagher, were responding to a 911 call in Seattle's Central District, and noticed two young girls who didn't have beds. The officers bought each a twin bed from Ikea with their own money, and others began donating to the effort.

On Saturday, teams of volunteers delivered 22 beds to Seattle families, with families outside of Seattle picking up 30 additional beds at police headquarters.
