Registration for children starting Primary One next year will open from July 3 to Aug 28, the Ministry of Education (MOE) said yesterday.
For the first time, every primary school will reserve 20 places each for Phases 2B and 2C before the start of the registration exercise.
The number of vacancies remaining after Phase 2A(2) — including the 40 reserved places — will continue to be split equally between Phase 2B and 2C, the ministry said.
Phase 2B is for children whose parents are school volunteers or active community leaders, or are endorsed by the church or clan directly tied to the school, while Phase 2C is for children with no connections to the school or who failed to get a place in the earlier phases.
All primary schools will open for registration from 8am to 11am and from 2.30pm to 4.30pm from Mondays to Fridays during the registration period.
The Compulsory Education Act requires all children born between Jan 2, 2008 and Jan 1, 2009 to attend primary school. The MOE said there will be sufficient places for all eligible Pri 1 students.
For the first time, the MOE will open the Primary One Internet System (P1-IS) to all primary schools for parents to register online during Phases 2C and 2C Supplementary. Both parents are required to use their SingPass for online registration.
P1-IS is accessible from 9am on July 29 to 4.30pm on July 31 for Phase 2C; and from 9am on Aug 10 to 4.30pm on Aug 12 for Phase 2C Supplementary.
Details on vacancies available at primary schools, as well as a list of registration centres for merging and relocating schools, can be found on the Pri 1 registration website, http://tdy.sg/p1reg2015.
