In the report "Repo man got HDB officer to illegally access parking data" (last Saturday), the repossesor was said to have used legitimate means to track car owners' locations through AXS machines.
While this may seem ingenious, and is probably an "industry practice", it also sounds like a fundamental design flaw in the AXS service; one that allows for a breach of personal data and privacy.
I shudder to think what those with more sinister intentions could achieve by using the AXS service to obtain one's personal and residential location information.
The AXS service providers should work towards limiting the amount of personal and financial data that can be displayed by their machines, especially in the light of the recent SingPass scare ("1,560 SingPass accounts possibly tampered with"; June 5).
