The latest device to ride on the tablet wave this year is not meant for working adults or trendy teenagers — it is created specially for kids. Samsung today (Nov 14) announced the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids, a tablet pre-loaded with educational tools and safety features.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids comes with a curated list of kids-friendly content and applications, such as games like Toca Hair Salon 2, Pettson’s Inventions 2 and Farm 123. For example, in Toca Hair Salon 2, kids are given the liberty to run their own salon using various styling tools.
The key feature of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids is parental control, where parents are able to manage the apps they want their children to access to by utilising the Application Manager.
Parents are also able to control the amount of time the device is used using the Time Manager feature. When the programmed duration is up, a password protected lock screen pops up and the child will not be able to continue using the device.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 tablet features:
A 1.2GHz dual core processor
1GB RAM
Weighs 302g
A 3.2 megapixel front-facing camera
A 1.3 megapixel rear-facing camera
A Kid’s Camera app (with a simple interface and fun effects just for kids)
A Kids Grip Cover Kit featuring a kids-friendly grip and multiple stand options will be bundled with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids. An easy-to-grip C Pen is also available, allowing children to have fun drawing without the possibility of leaving marks on other objects.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids will be available from Nov 16 this year at S$388 (without contract) at Toys”R”Us, Popular book stores, major consumer electronics and IT stores, and Samsung Experience Stores.
