First group of S'poreans return from performing haj

The first group of Singaporeans, who have performed their haj, returned to Singapore on Monday afternoon. Flight SQ455 arrived in Singapore at 12.26pm from Jeddah via Riyadh.

The 44 pilgrims were also among the first who left in late September via two haj travel agents or general sales agents approved by MUIS.

Saudi authorities had initially reduced the number of visas this year as a result of expansion works in Mecca.

Singapore was also affected but the number of visas was reinstated at the last minute to the official figure of 680.

Singaporean pilgrims said the haj operation went smoothly. The last batch of pilgrims is expected to return on 9 November.
