It has been three days since the Subaru Challenge started at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza but the end does not seem to be in sight.
As of 8pm on Monday, some 360 people have dropped out of the race to own a car worth S$85,000.
Yesterday at slightly past 4.30pm, heavy thunderstorms caused the challenge to be halted for an hour instead of the usual five minutes.
Eugene Yang, a senior paramedic for Comfort Ambulance, said: “For us, we want the participants to be safe and sound -- we actually leave (the) discretion to the organiser, whether to stop (the challenge) or not to stop. But for us, we'll say that category one status is very dangerous. So we'll stop the event. Category one means there's lightning and there's thunderstorm.”
