Police have arrested two people in separate cases for involvement in loansharking activities.
In the first case, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division arrested a 19-year-old girl in the vicinity of Hougang Avenue 9 on Thursday at about 6.45 pm.
The suspect had given away her ATM card and PIN to a loansharking syndicate to facilitate the business of unlicensed moneylending.
Later that same day at about 8.05pm, officers conducted a check on a 37-year-old man in the vicinity of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 and discovered that he had seven mobile phone invoices dated on the same day.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect had given away his ATM card and PIN to a loansharking syndicate. He had also helped the loansharking syndicate to buy mobile phones to facilitate the business of unlicensed moneylending.
Investigations against both suspects are on-going.
