Yesterday morning, there was heavy traffic congestion along Dunearn Road in the direction of the city. An ambulance (with its sirens wailing) and a car in front of it were unable to make a U-turn from Bukit Timah Road.
When the traffic lights turned green, space opened up in front of the car but other cars immediately closed the gap. The ambulance was clearly visible to the drivers.
Farther ahead, a tree had fallen on two cars and their occupants might have needed medical attention.
Do these drivers understand that the sooner emergency services can get through, the sooner they can pass through as well? Or should the sound of ambulance sirens be made louder?
Would they have acted in the same manner if the ambulance were on its way to save their loved ones?
