Swift police action

ON WEDNESDAY, I purchased a movie ticket at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard. Shortly after I turned away from the ticketing booth, I realised I had left my wallet on the counter.

I immediately returned to the booth but my wallet was no longer there. The couple queueing behind me were at the counter and insisted they did not see my wallet. The ticketing officer said the same thing.

I lodged a police report at the Orchard Neighbourhood Police Centre. Officer Jonathan Kang, who attended to me, was courteous and helpful.

Within minutes, a patrol car was dispatched to the cineplex.

Two hours later, the police told me to return to the cineplex. They had detained the couple and recovered my wallet, with cash and contents fully intact.

They were able to solve the case quickly with the help of Cineleisure's security officers and general manager. I commend the police for their efficiency.

Missing phone recovered

AFTER alighting from a train at Woodlands MRT station on Monday, I realised that I had left my cellphone on the seat.

I reported it to the station staff and within 15 minutes, I got my phone back at Admiralty station.

I thank the SMRT, especially Woodlands station's Mr Abdul Rahman and Admiralty station's Ms Farah, for their excellent customer service.

Great help to commuters

BUSES that stop at the Bukit Panjang bus stop just before the Bukit Timah Expressway towards the city, especially the longer bendy buses, tend to be packed at the entrance but relatively empty at the back.

I had asked SMRT to consider allowing commuters to board from the exit door.

Now, it has deployed station masters in the morning to help commuters tap their ez-link cards at the front, and then board from the back in a safe and orderly way.

They are courteous and professional, and their presence allows me to start my day happily. Thank you, SMRT.
