14 companies have come onboard WorkPro, a programme by the Manpower Ministry and the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) to attract economically inactive women and older residents back to work.
To better reach out to job seekers, the WDA has appointed 12 WorkPro ambassadors to improve on its outreach efforts.
One of the WorkPro ambassadors, Ms Pauline Sim, said: “My job is to encourage women to come back to work. And also by also telling them that there’s help available for them, such as job preparation if they are feeling insecure or not confident in what they are doing because they have lost touch with the work environment.
“That will help them to handle interviews, write CVs, personal grooming and also what is the latest employment act legislation that will help them.”
The WDA and the People’s Association aim to appoint 100 ambassadors by mid-2014. They are over 400,000 locals aged 25 to 64 years old who are economically inactive and they form a potential pool that businesses can tap on to.
