Some 300 people turned up for a candlelight vigil last night at the spot in Tampines where two brothers were killed in a horrific accident last week.
Nigel Yap, 13, and his brother Donavan, seven, were on their way home on a bicycle when they were hit by a cement mixer truck last Monday evening.
The crowd held candles and walked from a nearby block to the junction of Tampines Avenue 9 and Tampines Street 45 at about 8pm.
Many took a moment, with their heads bowed, to remember the brothers. They later lined the candles along an adjacent grass patch.
The boys' parents were not present although a few of their relatives were there to represent the family.
Speaking to the media, Mr Baey said the family is very grateful for the public's outpouring of support.
