The Seattle Police Department’s Office of Professional Accountability has launched an investigation into two officers who were arrested early Monday morning for investigation of DUI (drink-driving) and hit and run, police said.
The off-duty officers, a man and a woman, were involved in a collision near the intersection of 1st Avenue South and South Lander Street that was reported just after midnight, police said.
Police responded and located the car a few blocks away. The responding officers recognized the pair in the car as off-duty SPD officers. It was apparent both had been drinking, police said.
SPD investigators are asking the Seattle City Attorney’s Office to consider charges of DUI and hit and run for the female officer and DUI-physical control and hit and run for the male officer.
The names of the officers have not been released.
