RIP Frankie Thanapal, disability sports champion

Veteran disability sports athlete and administrator Frankie Thanapal passed away on Monday.

Channel NewsAsia understands the 62—year—old collapsed on Monday and was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Mr Thanapal leaves behind a wife and three children.

Frankie Thanapal was Secretary General of the Singapore National Paralympic Council and also Chef—de—Mission for Team Singapore at the recent London Paralympics.

Mr Thanapal had actively promoted and raised the profile of disability sports in Singapore over the last decade.

He had previously represented Singapore in disability sports like discus, javelin and swimming.
