Police have arrested a man suspected of trying to steal cash from a bank’s automated teller machine in Bukit Batok.
The 41-year-old, who has not yet been identified, allegedly tampered with an OCBC ATM located along Bukit Batok East Ave 3 on 9 and 10 December.
The external cover of the ATM was found open and two security cameras were covered with masking tape, likely to prevent images from being recorded.
Police was notified on 10 December at around 7.30am and found no cash missing from the ATM, it said in a statement.
With the help of other closed-circuit camera images and evidence gathered at the scene, the officers carried out extensive ground investigations to establish the suspect’s identity.
On 13 December, they spotted the man at Admiralty Link and arrested him at about 4.30pm.
They also found a face mask, a pair of gloves and a roll of white tape believed to have been used to commit the offence, and two T-shirts and a pair of jeans the suspect allegedly wore at the time.
