This October, Malaysia is celebrating its rich food heritage with the Malaysian International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) 2012 in a showcase of 28 of its best restaurants.

Each participating restaurant has a specially created 'Festival Menu' for MIGF. Each menu varies in cost, with prices starting from RM98++ (S$39.40) per person for a three-course meal.

It is a symphony of cuisines - from traditional Malay cuisine to French fine dining.

This year, the annual festival introduced a new preview segment, Taste MIGF, where all 28 restaurants came together in one venue.

Held on Sep 28 at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, visitors bought sample sizes of dishes, which would be on the restaurants' Festival Menus, using Taste Tokens. These were sold for RM5 each in booklets of 10. Without having to purchase a full meal, first-time diners could sample a wide variety of gourmet dishes.

The participating restaurants are:

- For traditional Malay cuisine: Bunga Emas, Enak KL or Makan Kitchen.

- For Chinese cuisine: The Emperor, Dynasty, Lai Po Heen, Five Sen5es and West Lake Garden.

- For Chinese and Thai fusion cuisine: Imperial Rama.

- For Japanese cuisine: Sagano, Kofuku and Ten Japanese Fine Dining.

- For Korean cuisine: Onsemiro Korean Fine Dining.

- For Lebanese cuisine: Al-Amar.

- For Italian cuisine: Prego, Senja and Nerovivo.

- For Swiss cuisine: L'Heritage.

- For French cuisine: Cuisine Gourmet by Nathalie.
