Three people have been arrested following a snatch theft in Ang Mo Kio Central on the evening of October 2.

A female victim had her handbag, containing cash and valuables amounting to $3,000, snatched by a thief who later fled on a motorcycle with his accomplice.

A student who was passing by had witnessed the incident and chased the suspect down, helping to recover the woman's belongings before he escaped.

Within three hours, police arrested a 51-year-old man suspected to be the rider of the motorcycle. A motorcycle was also recovered in the arrest.

Follow-up investigations led to the arrest of two other accomplices in Hougang and Serangoon within 10 hours.

One of the suspects arrested is believed to be the snatch thief and the other is believed to be involved in the planning of the crime.
