The police have arrested a 17-year-old male student for attempting to use a fake national registration identity card (NRIC) to enter a Sentosa Gateway nightspot.

He had produced a fake NRIC at the entrance of the entertainment outlet on May 12 at about 11.30pm for security staff to verify.

However, they found something amiss with the identity card and called the police.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had forged the NRIC and amended his date of birth on the forged IC so that he could enter the entertainment outlet.

Several computer items believed to have been used by the suspect to forge the NRIC were also seized as case exhibits.

He will be charged in Court on Sep 25 this year for offences under the National Registration Act, Chapter 201.

He can be fined up to $10,000 or jailed up to10 years, or both, if found guilty.
