Police have arrested a 39-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man believed to be responsible for a series of shop thefts at Suntec City mall.

On July 21 at about 8.15pm, officers from the Crime Strike Force (CSF) of Bukit Merah East NPC received information from a retail assistant manager of a boutique at the mall that a woman had been behaving suspiciously around the shop premises.

When the police arrived at the scene, they stopped the female suspect and her male companion outside the boutique and found an assortment of items in their possession. It is believed that the items were not paid for.

The stolen goods consisted of men’s and women’s apparel with a total value of about $1,200. Police believe they were stolen from different shops located along the Temasek Boulevard shopping belt.

The suspects were immediately arrested and the items were seized as case exhibits.

The suspects will be charged in court on July 23 for theft. If convicted, each of them could face a maximum jail term of seven years and be liable to a fine.
