Shaw cinema's box office ticketing system down

The box office ticketing system at all Shaw cinemas has been down since 7pm on Friday.

In a statement to Channel NewsAsia, Shaw said this was due to technical problems which also affected its website and mobile site.

For now, Shaw has reverted to manual sales of movie tickets over the box office counter.

As patrons are unaware of which movie tickets are sold out, tickets will only be available 30 minutes before a movie screening to avoid a potential mix-up over seatings for later shows.

It also won't be taking any advance bookings till the system is up and running.

To further assist patrons, Shaw has put up information at the box office media screens and deployed extra staff.

It has also deployed its engineers and technical team to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
