Higher wages for cleaners in Sembawang-Nee Soon

Cleaning operators at the Sembawang-Nee Soon estate can look forward to a higher pay come October 1, in an initiative to maintain the cleanliness of the estates and retain good qualified workers.

The announcement was made by the chairman of the Sembawang-Nee Soon Town Council, MP Hawazi Daipi, on Saturday morning.

Full-time cleaners are currently paid S$1,000 a month. If the contractor increases the pay of a cleaner to S$1,100 for good performance, the town council will contribute 20 per cent of the increment of S$100, or S$20 a month.

The town council also launched the Happy Block Contest aimed at improving the standard of cleanliness in the estate.
