Road closures for NDP 2012 over three Saturdays

To facilitate three National Day Parade 2012 National Education (NE) Shows on consecutive Saturdays, roads and lanes near the floating platform at Marina Bay will be closed to vehicular traffic.

The shows will be held on July 14, July 21 and July 28. The reserve dates for the NE Shows will be on Sundays, July 15, July 22 and July 29.

The carriageway of Republic Boulevard in the direction of Raffles Avenue (between Republic Avenue and Raffles Avenue) and Raffles Avenue (between Republic Boulevard and Temasek Avenue) will be closed from 9am to 11.30pm.

The two left lanes of Raffles Avenue in the direction of Nicoll Highway (between Temasek Avenue and Nicoll Highway) will be closed from 9am to 7pm and 10.30pm to 11.30pm.

The two left lanes of Esplanade Drive in the direction of Collyer Quay (between Raffles Avenue and Fullerton Road), as well as Connaught Drive (between Stamford Road and Fullerton Road) will be closed from 3pm to 10.30pm.

The carriageway of Esplanade Drive in the direction of Collyer Quay (between Raffles Avenue and Fullerton Road), as well as two right lanes of Esplanade Drive in the direction of Nicoll Highway (between Fullerton Road and Raffles Avenue) will be closed from 7.30pm to 10.30pm.

The following lanes will be closed from 7pm to 10.30pm:

- Three left lanes of Raffles Avenue in the direction of Nicoll Highway (between Temasek Avenue and Nicoll Highway)

- Extreme left lane of Nicoll Highway in the direction of Esplanade Drive (between Middle Road and Raffles Avenue)

- The carriageway of Bayfront Avenue in the direction of Temasek Avenue (between the ERP gantry along Bayfront Avenue and Raffles Avenue)

During the events, access to the above-mentioned roads will only be granted to authorised vehicles displaying the approved labels as well as police and emergency vehicles.

Auxiliary police officers, police officers, and SAF marshals will be deployed at the affected junctions to assist and direct motorists. Public bus services affected by the road closures will be diverted accordingly.

Alternative routes

Delays are expected along Raffles Boulevard, Raffles Avenue, Republic Avenue, Bras Basah Road, Nicoll Highway, Esplanade Drive and Bayfront Avenue. Motorists are advised to plan their route early and avoid these areas. Those travelling to the vicinity of Suntec City and Marina Square are advised to use public transport.

Motorists proceeding to Suntec City and Marina Square from Crawford Street and Ophir Road are advised to use alternative routes via Nicoll Highway or Beach Rd.

Parking restrictions along the peripheral roads will be strictly enforced. Vehicles found parking indiscriminately and/or causing obstruction will be towed away.
