A video of a woman shouting at an elderly lady over a bus seat is currently circulating on the Internet; the incident was recorded and posted on YouTube by a netizen.

In the video, a long-haired woman dressed in a white long-sleeved dress was seen scolding an elderly lady animatedly in Mandarin spoken with what sounds like a mainland Chinese accent.

According to the netizen, the woman continued her outburst on the old woman for over 10 minutes.

In a report by Lianhe Wanbao, the elderly woman who had yet to climb up the steps into the bus asked the young woman to give up her seat. It is believed that she wanted to sit at the row of seats located close to the entrance.

This upset the younger woman who started screaming, “There are so many seats, why do you have to choose my seat?” As the woman continued to lash out at the elder woman, a few other passengers came over to try to calm her down.

In the background of the video, a few voices can be heard asking the woman to “let it go”.

However, the younger woman did not simmer down and stared at the other passengers, approaching the elderly woman as if she wanted to hit her. The elderly woman was seen retreating into a corner of the bus.

As there were a few plastic bags near the younger woman, some believed that she refused to give up her seat as she did not want to carry the items to another seat.

In order to prevent things from boiling over, the bus driver stopped the bus and tried to mediate between the two, however the younger woman continued her outburst shouting at a passenger who was taking pictures of her.

This incident is the latest involving arguments breaking out on Singapore’s public transport system.
